The term “dry needling” refers to the therapeutic insertion of a needle without an injection. As such, dry needling encompasses traditional acupuncture, motor point needling and trigger point needling.

The techniques used for motor point needling and trigger point needling are different from acupuncture and from each other, however the goal remains the same.  To create a release in a muscle that is tight and painful.  These treatments can be very effective in treating stubborn myofascial conditions.

Dry needling contrasts with the use of a hollow hypodermic needle  to inject substances.
