Stephen Carney graduated with honors from Western University in 1995. Stephen has taken post graduate courses in manual therapy, vestibular rehabilitation and orthotics prescription.He has had the privilege of treating patients for the last 20 years. Stephen practiced physiotherapy in Toronto for the last 15 years in both hospital and private practice settings. Prior to joining the ActiveCARE team in Ottawa, Stephen was the director of physiotherapy in North York, ON.
DR. DAVID SIMON, MD, MHA, FRCSC, DIP. SPORT MED.
Dr. David Simon is an orthopaedic surgeon based in Ottawa, Canada. He has subspecialty fellowship training in Sports Medicine and Upper Extremity Surgery with special emphasis on surgical techniques employing minimally invasive arthroscopic approaches to joint preservation. He also has a special interest in employing biological methods of treating musculoskeletal pathology including platelet rich plasma and emerging stem cell therapies. He treats sports-related and degenerative disorders of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, knee, and ankle.Dr. Simon completed his medical and surgical training at leading Canadian universities and also possesses a Master of Health Administration degree from the prestigious Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa. He has received recognition for teaching and clinical research efforts and enjoys volunteering in developing parts of the world teaching surgical principles and pursuing humanitarian goals.Dr. Simon is actively involved in providing team physician coverage for Canadian national teams in various sports and for international competitions as well as world championships. His ultimate professional goal is to support Canadian athletes at the Olympic Games. He is an active member of several professional societies including the Canadian Orthopaedic Association, the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise Medicine.Away from work, Dr. Simon draws his inspiration from his beautiful wife and children. Together they all enjoy lazy afternoons at the park with their Labrador retriever, indulging in all things chocolate and exploring interesting parts of the world. An athlete himself, he trains and competes in the emerging sport of CrossFit, which combines elements of Olympic weightlifting, gymnastics and high intensity metabolic conditioning.
NORMAND LAHAIE, BSC., PT
Normand is a registered physiotherapist who graduated from the University of Ottawa Magna Cum Laude in 1990. He has 26 years of clinical experience primarily in the field of orthopaedics. Areas of particular interest are complex spinal problems and the shoulder joint. He also enjoys working with athletes being an avid runner. tennis player and ball player himself. He is trained in acupuncture, manual therapy and the Mckenzie approach for back and neck problems. He looks forward to treating you in both French and English.
Nancy graduated from McGill University in 1983. Prior to coming to Ottawa in 1989, she gained experience in out-patient and in-patient rehabilitation consisting primarily of orthopedics in London, Ontario. She joined ActiveCare with clinical expertise in managing acute and chronic orthopaedic conditions, work-related injuries and post motor accident rehabilitation. She has taken post-graduate courses in manual therapy, Mulligan techniques, and McKenzie approach to spinal and extremity conditions.
LAUREN GALLANT RMT
Registered Massage Therapist
Lauren is an honours graduate from the Massage Therapy Program at Trillium College. She is committed to providing quality, clinically-indicated massage therapy treatments. She aims to create treatment plans that not only yield results, but also allow the client to be engaged in the process by providing stretches and exercises for at home. Lauren takes special interest in deep tissue therapy, sports massage, acute and chronic injuries, and pain management. She has completed the Schweitzer’s Deep Tissue Therapy course, and is planning to continue her education in myofascial release. Outside of work, Lauren has been an avid equestrian for the past 17 years, and spends most of her free time with her two horses.
DR. FRANCE NOEL DE TILLY, MD

Dr France Noël de Tilly obtained her Diploma in Sports Medicine from the Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise Medicine after graduating from the Université de Sherbrooke Medical Shcool. She has worked as Chief Medical Officer for Skate Canada, team physician for men’s and women’s national U-17 and U-19 soccer teams and on the Anti-doping Committee for the Jeux de la Francophonie. This bilingual physician provides a focused practice in Sport Medicine with a special interest in artistic, equestrian and aquatic sports.
